Here are the ten best places to take your dog for a walk, according to a local expert.

Gary Box, who founded the Northampton Dog Walker Company, has rated some of the best walks in the county.

He moved to Northampton in 2015 and founded Northampton Dog Walker in early 2017.

His company offers a range of pet services, be it dog walking, pet care, dog photography, or pet transportation.

Below are the ten places that Gary rated as the best for walking your dog in Northamptonshire, along with his ratings of each beauty spot.

Gary said, “The Salcey Forest provides a beautiful natural environment for sniffing and forest exploring on a weekday. Weekends can be too busy, having to share with mountain bikes and horses, which aren’t always a good mix with dogs. A muddy place even in winter. “Overall rating: 4/5 Photo: Gary Box

Gary said, “Sywell Country Park has several advantages for those who walk their dog. A decent cafe and restrooms are a bonus, and there are plenty of dog poop bins. Dogs seem to like it here. The only real downside is the expensive parking lot which could use an hourly rate to make it more economical. All in all, we were pretty impressed with Sywell as a place to walk dogs. “Overall rating: 4.1 / 5 Photo: Gary Box

“Is a pretty solid option for anyone who lives nearby and is looking for a place to walk the dog. The two things that stuck in my mind about this place were the well-kept condition (lack of rubbish) and the relaxing atmosphere (because of all the big trees). ”Overall rating 4.5 / 5 Photo: Gary Box

Gary said, “The track is popular with some dogs and dog owners. It’s essentially a large, flat play area. Lots of dog poop bins and free parking are pluses. The busy streets around the perimeter are a potential problem. A good option if you live nearby, but there are better locations in Northampton. “Overall Rating: 3.9 / 5 Photo: Gary Box
