Have a game night

Staying at home doesn’t have to mean sitting in front of the TV. Get out the board games or a card game and get competitive. A game of Monopoly will likely take up most of the evening, or you might have a Nintendo Switch to liven up the living room.

This is a great way to spend the night when you have people of different ages entertaining as you can all take turns choosing the game.

Set some goals for 2022

What better time to think about the year ahead than New Year’s Eve. Spend the night writing down your wish-lists, dreams, and hopes for the next year. Your resolution list doesn’t have to be full of negative things that you want to give up.

You will have more fun working towards your goals when doing things and achieving them is fun. Get creative and write them down, then put your list somewhere you will see it every day.

Have a movie night

Pick a selection of your favorite films and turn your lounge into a cinema for the night. Loot the closets and use any leftover Christmas snacks to make a box of movie night goodies.

Turn down the lights and snuggle up on the sofa to enjoy a series of films when the year comes to an end.

Take a pub quiz at home

Invite some friends and family over, or if you’re not tired of it, take a quiz on Zoom with people farther away. Get the drinks flowing, make some “bar snacks,” and play in teams with goofy names.

There are many online quizzes you can find – including NorthantsLive’s own news quiz for Northamptonshire 2021 – or you can try writing your own. You have to choose a quiz master and you must not cheat!
