New family run restaurant opened in Northampton after lockdown

A new family run restaurant has opened in Northampton, described by the owners as a “Project of Love”.

The Fig Tree Bar and Kitchen, located at Dallington Fitness on Poyntz Lane, is now open for operations after the De-Chiara family renovated it via the Covid lockdown.

The De-Chiara family includes Tony, Angelina, Giulio and Maria, who are all siblings, and then Angelo, their cousin.

Maria said, “This was a love project for the family.

“I’ve had the idea of doing this since the day we first came here seven years ago.

“So we took it upon ourselves over the lockdown to make it better, lighter and fresher.

“The dark interior of the old club lounge has been transformed into an attractive modern bar and dining room, an ideal place for any culinary experience.

“We’re a local company – and there’s something special about that. It’s not a typical place. It’s a very friendly, personal place, surrounded by trees. “

Maria said the restaurant has also hired a new chef who serves food Wednesday through Sunday every week.

The 52-year-old says: “In Elvis we have found a really good cook who cooks with a heart. Our menu is based on his good food knowledge.

“All food is fresh. We make our own burgers and use good ingredients. We also make paninis, salads, homemade cakes and more.

“The restaurant is for people who like to go to nice cafés, go out for a few hours to work or just want to relax.

“It’s also a place for weddings, special parties and children are welcome.”

Maria wanted to send a message to the public. She said, “I want everyone to come. It’s a relaxed environment. I love to serve, I love to host and that people enjoy good food.

“Everyone who walks in has a 10% discount. We think if you come and see the venue you’ll enjoy it.”
