<p>Pep Guardiola has history with the Champions League final referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz</p> <p> (Getty Images) “src =” https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/xJoCGfVT15WIio7_uBF8tA–/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTk2MDtoPTY0MA–/https://s.yimg/u/api/api 1.2 / Q4SdVxTJcbeOC_GTZeigMw– ~ B / aD0xNjgyO3c9MjUyMzthcHBpZD15dGFjaHlvbg – / https: //media.zenfs.com/en/evening_standard_239/092db6f94a41b73e8a99fa68 “/ >96fa</p> <p>Pep Guardiola has history with the Champions League final referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz</p> <p> (Getty Images)</p> <p>Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he “doesn’t care” about the choice of the referee for the Champions League final against Chelsea tonight as he prepares to see Antonio Mateu Lahoz again.</p> <p>Mateu Lahoz has history with Guardiola after being sent off during City’s Champions League loss to Liverpool in 2018.</p> <p>Leroy Sane thought he had scored in the second leg of the quarter-finals at Etihad Stadium but the goal was disqualified for offside.</p> <p>Guardiola protested at halftime with Mateu Lahoz and his counterparts on the pitch and had to watch the second 45 minutes from the stands.</p> <p>The City boss said after the game that Liverpool won, Mateu Lahoz was “a referee who likes to feel different, he’s special”.</p> <p>The couple are now ready to meet again on Saturday as Mateu Lahoz has been appointed referee for the 2021 Champions League final in Porto.</p> <p>When asked if he had spoken to him since that Liverpool game, Guardiola replied: “No.”</p> <p>When asked if it was something he couldn’t worry about before the game, Guardiola said: “Not a second.</p> <p>“I don’t give a damn. I’m so convinced of my team. You can’t imagine how confident I am in my team and what we have to do.”</p> <p>Spanish official Mateu Lahoz has been a referee since 2011 but this will be his first Champions League final.</p> <p>He was the fourth official in the 2019 final between Tottenham and Liverpool in Madrid, while overseeing six Champions League games this season, including the quarter-final first leg between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.</p> <p>Mateu Lahoz has also been selected as one of the referees for the rescheduled European Championship this summer.</p> <p>Continue reading</p> <p>When and where will the 2021 Champions League final take place?
