The Northamptonshire-based company RML Group has unveiled the first production car with its branding: the RML Short Wheelbase, which is obviously inspired by the six-decade-old Ferrari 250 GT SWB.
The sports car uses the naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V12 engine of the Ferrari 550 Maranello from the mid-1990s with 485 hp (478 hp / 357 kW) and 568 Nm (419 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed manual transmission transfers the momentum to the wheels. The company says nothing about the origin of the chassis, but we suspect that this could also come from the 550 Maranello.
The car weighs 1,470 kg (3,240 lbs) and takes 4.1 seconds to reach 97 km / h (60 mph) from a standstill. The top speed is over 298 km / h (185 mph).
With its original carbon fiber body and kit, the coupe is 4,264 mm (14 feet) long and 1,954 mm (6.4 feet) wide, much larger than the 1959 Maranello. The equipment list is rather extensive and includes air conditioning, an infotainment system with navigation system and electrically adjustable seats.
The RML Group is planning around 30 such vehicles, the number of which has not yet been determined and the price will be announced.
