The oldest Spencer sibling, Lady Sarah Spencer, was briefly with Prince Charles in 1977, so he originally met a then 16-year-old Diana.
“I introduced her, I’m Cupid,” she reportedly said shortly after Charles and Diana became engaged in 1981.

Some royal commentators suggested that Jane’s position as both Diana’s sister and Robert’s wife put her in a difficult position when Charles and Diana’s marriage ended.
According to Earl and Lady Sarah Spencer, Jane informed them of Diana’s death in the early hours of the morning in 1997.
Both Sarah and Jane traveled to Paris with Prince Charles to pick up their sister’s body after the fatal car accident.

The sisters later revealed on the investigation, in which Jane suspected that Diana’s relationship with Dodi Al Fayed was petered out at the time of her death.
Princes William and Harry are believed to have stayed close to their two aunts, and both attended the 2019 christening of the Duke of Sussex’s son Archie.
“Harry has always been in close contact with the Spencers and they have all received invitations,” an unnamed source told Vanity Fair. “Harry gets along well with his aunts and uncle, and they met Meghan.”

Lady Jane also gave a reading at Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.
At the time, Prince Harry issued a statement that read: “Prince Harry and Mrs. Markle are both honored that Lady Jane will represent their family and celebrate the memory of the late princess on the wedding day.”
She is the mother of three children, Emily, George and Celia, while Sarah is the mother of Laura, Alexander and Eleanor, all of whom are close to their cousins William and Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose Lady Jane’s daughter Laura to be Princess Charlotte’s godmother.
The princes have attended their cousins’ weddings – including the wedding of Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse in 2018.
Lady Jane has spoken publicly only once since 1997 about Only Connect (OC), the charity that she and her nephew Harry are a part of.

Earl Charles Spencer
Earl Charles Spencer is the youngest and only brother of the Spencer family and the Queen’s godson.
Earl Charles Spencer announced that The Crown producers have asked to film in Althorp – the house the siblings grew up in, but the family refused.
Althorp is also the final resting place of Princess Diana and the family burial place, which is located on an island in the middle of a lake of the 500 year old estate.

“She’s obviously a very popular part of it, and from outside the immediate family, she’ll always be a relevant part of Althorp’s history – and someone we’re incredibly proud of,” the Earl previously said.
He has called the drama that depicts his sister’s marriage to Prince Charles “much conjecture and much fiction”.
Earl Spencer filed the complaint against the BBC after alleging the family had been misled by journalist Martin Bashir, which resulted in his sister taking part in the 1995 Panorama interview.

He has been married three times and has seven children – all of whom were invited to both royal weddings.
