Yardley Arts, the community’s vibrant arts center run by volunteers in the village of Yardley Hastings, is proud to reopen its doors on Tuesday, May 18th.
It offers a new program of art courses and workshops dealing with life drawing, mixed media, linocut printing, portrait painting, watercolors, sketchbook knowledge, jewelry making and photography. There are also open studio sessions and a children’s art club on Saturdays.
Sessions are led by a group of local artists who are also seasoned tutors, including Cathy Burnett, Sara Myers, Beccy Gillatt, Nicky Hunter, Tracey Sherwood, Cordell Garfield, Kat Lendacka, Chris Richbell, Emma Lindsey, and Penny German. More experienced tutors are needed and should be contacted via [email protected]

These take place in the historic and spacious Old School Hall in the village, which has two work areas, a garden and easy parking.
Sessions are for all levels and experience, and beginners are welcome. Yardley Arts also reaches the area for colleges, arts clubs, and those with special needs. In fact, Yardley Arts is listed in the new Social Prescribing My Healthy and Care Directory as the arts and wellbeing are recognized as very closely related.
Art exhibitions, music and comedy evenings and the creation of an art garden are also planned.
The hall can also be rented for art parties and cultural events by local organizations, businesses and individuals.
