Olivia Wilde made headlines back in January when she and One Direction star Harry Styles brought their relationship to the public.
The hot new couple were spotted holding hands at Harry’s agent’s covid-safe wedding in Motecito, California after Olivia directed the singer and actress in her latest film, Don’t Worry Darling.
Months earlier, Olivia – who turns 37 today – split from her long-time partner Jason Sudeikis, with whom she has children Otis (six) and Daisy (four).
The couple were engaged to be married but never made it down the aisle. The free-spirited Olivia is no stranger to the marriage, however, having tied the knot with an Italian prince as a teenager.

On June 7, 2003, just six months after meeting, 19-year-old Olivia said, “I’m doing” to Tao Ruspoli on the back of a school bus.
At first, the actress was not interested in the proposal of a friend of the family to meet the son of the actor and aristocrat Prince Alessandro Ruspoli, Prince of Cerveteri.
Scared off by his bohemian existence, she told Women’s Health, “He wanted to introduce me to this Italian who made films and lived on a school bus. I said, ‘Woah! I don’t want to meet a guy who lives on a bus!'”
Despite the wealth of his aristocratic family, who owned a palazzo and castle in Italy, filmmaker and musician Tao led a reticent life and called the bus home in Washington, Virginia.
He had a degree in philosophy and, like Olivia, was interested in filmmaking and political activism. They hit it off immediately.

Of course, friends were amused by the understated queen who had captured her heart.
“Everyone expects to pick me up in a limousine or a yacht. Then Tao curls up in that old Thunderbird wearing flip flops. His hair is all crazy, “Olivia once recalled.
“People say, ‘He’s a prince?'”
There were no tiaras or royal jewels – not that Olivia cared about them, admitting she was being carried away by “a wave of romantic excitement and an overwhelming feeling that we should be family.”
Her father wasn’t that convinced, and Olivia joked that he had a “minor heart attack” when he heard about the wedding.
After escaping, her parents held a second wedding at their Virgina farmhouse, followed by a third ceremony in the garden of the groom’s family castle just outside Rome.
“There were stilt walkers, drummers, standard-bearers; it was surreal and beautiful and amazing, like a fairy tale,” she told people about her epic day, admitting, “everyone expected it to fail.”

Instead, their relationship blossomed, and Tao was just proud when her Hollywood acting career began.
Her success, she said, was an aphrodisiac for her marriage.
When asked how he felt about her romantic scenes with other men, she said, “I think he likes it. It’s exciting that I can do these things. The confidence that comes with performing well only makes you more desirable.”

But in February 2011, Olivia called their reunion time and revealed at a pub monologue night that their spark was blown.
“I felt like my vagina died,” she said bluntly. “Turned off. Lights off … you can lie to your relatives at Christmas dinner and tell them everything on the home front is just peach colored. But you can’t lie to your vagina.”
She shared how she suffered some sort of “arrested development” after spending her 20s in a serious relationship without getting to know herself.
And while she was dying to learn how not to be defined by another person, she told Marie Claire that she did not regret the marriage.
“Our business from the start has been, ‘We’re crazy about it, but we do it because we’re in love and it makes us happy. The only reason for divorce is when one of us is not happy. Life is too short “, she said.
“When the relationship comes down to working to make it work, that beauty and optimistic bohemian sense that brought us together is lost. I don’t think love should be work.”
