The employer rating of Oundle group hotel owners is increasing sharply

The Coaching Inn Group, which operates The Talbot in Oundle, now ranks high as one of the best places to work in the country and that’s official.

Talbot’s parent company gained 23 spots in the Top 100 list of Best Companies for Employment Engagement, moving up from 44th to 21st place.

The rankings are based on a survey of employees in the group’s 18 hotels and inns, with the survey results informing the top 100.

Kevin Charity, the group’s chief executive officer, said he was “torn to pieces,” especially since the survey was based on employee opinions.

He said: “It is incredible to be in 21st place and it shows that we are beating way beyond our weight.

“In the last four years we have developed into a very people-oriented company that constantly upholds this culture, constantly improving and examining what we can do better and how we as a management team can serve our employees – that was the key.”

The historic, Grade II listed hotel, allegedly haunted by the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots, was renovated for £ 1.3 million in 2012 and now offers fine dining, luxurious rooms and a wedding venue.

Anyone who joins the company has been able to take advantage of the Rising Stars program, which enables team members to advance their careers by gaining skills in the hospitality industry.

Charity added, “We also have our cooking academy, which encourages everyone on the kitchen teams to gain further qualifications, and visits to nurseries, farms and our other high quality food sources.

“The group values our enthusiastic team members very much and the additional comprehensive social benefits program is a token of their continued appreciation.”
