Britain’s ‘most prolific’ sperm donor who claims to have fathered 140 children is proud fascist

Even for those unfamiliar with his disturbing secret, Clive Jones’s appearance on ITV’s This Morning made for uneasy viewing.

To some, it was the way he tried to project a wholesome image – smiling and repeatedly waving at the camera like an exuberant children’s TV presenter – while simultaneously boasting in banal and unedifying detail about being Britain’s most prolific, if unofficial, Sperm Donor.

‘So how does it work?’ came the question from the breakfast show sofa.

Jones explained that he drives to the recipient’s home in his van, puts the syringe bearing his sample ‘under my arm to keep it warm’, then hands it over, exchanges small talk ‘about the weather’ and departs with a cheery wave and a request to let him know in a couple of weeks ‘if it works’.

He claimed to have fathered 140 children in this fashion over the past decade, and, now 67 and a grandfather, was still going strong. Bringing happiness to others less fortunate, he told hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond, was his only motivation.

Today, however, The Mail on Sunday can reveal a secret he did not share with viewers watching agog over their cornflakes – and it is one that may have a bearing on his apparent munificence.

Jones is a proud fascist and one of the leaders of the New British Union (NBU), which has promoted ‘total Aryanism’ and glorifies Oswald Mosley, the 1930s leader of the British Union of Fascists, who was jailed for being a Nazi sympathiser.

Could the real reason for donating his sperm to so many women be his warped way of boosting the white population?

Jones, who has been pictured wearing a black uniform with an armband bearing the flash and circle fascist symbol, insists not, but it is a question posed by some of the women who gave birth to his offspring and who were devastated to learn of his beliefs.

One of them – mixed-race and half-Jewish – was ‘completely shocked’ by the revelation, as was her Jewish grandfather. ‘Some of my relatives were killed by the Nazis,’ said 30-year-old Patrice Burke, whose son Marley, conceived with Jones’s sperm, was born ten months ago.

Of the Second World War, Jones has said: ‘I’m not going to say more on that because I don’t want to find myself in prison… if I was to tell you exactly what happened in that time I’d be banged away for hate crimes.’

Other women reacted to the news of his fascism with outrage, with one summing up the mood of many of the mothers by saying: ‘The world deserves to know [of his vile views] so that others are not duped by this man.’

A common thread runs through Jones’s troubling social-media posts: a warped fear that Britain is being swamped by Asians and Muslims, and that force is needed to reclaim ‘large areas of land’ occupied by foreigners.

‘I’ve worked out (I’m a retired maths and physics teacher) that Asians will outnumber us by 40 to 25 after two generations,’ he says in one post. Elsewhere he says: ‘It will soon be too late to do anything. We will be outnumbered.’ In another he asks: ‘Action is needed but are there enough of the brave?’

In a video shared online, Jones, from Derby, speaks openly of recruiting members and says he ‘became a fascist’ many years ago. He is the NBU’s ‘national officer’ and once wrote about deputising for the leader at a meeting in Yorkshire.

In the video he denies being racist but rants: ‘There are three races on this planet: there are Asians, Negroids, and the Caucasians – white people. The English are not made up of Asians or any other race.’

Before the NBU, Jones, who uses the pseudonym Carl Anderson, was a British National Party (BNP) member, which cost him his teaching job. Anthony Fletcher, who knew him from an online chat group for donors called Sperm Squad, said he warned women on Facebook about Jones after learning of his secret earlier this year.

‘What initially troubled me about him was that he referred to Pakistanis as ‘p****’,’ he said.

‘Neo-fascist parties generally encourage their members to have as many children as possible to boost the white birth rate, and Clive seems to be taking that advice very literally.’

Jones strongly denies this claim, insisting the idea ‘never entered my head’. He told The Mail on Sunday that he simply wants to help women and does not himself believe in ‘total Aryanism’.

He said: ‘I actually feel like Superman and I feel I have a moral responsibility to do what I do.’

Like many so-called ‘super donors’, he operates on Facebook outside of UK fertility regulations and doesn’t seek payment, only petrol money if it can be spared. Soon after he posted an online warning about Jones, Mr Fletcher received a message from a woman who gave birth to a son fathered by Jones through artificial insemination.

‘I’m so upset by what’s been discovered recently,’ she writes. ‘I feel that his recipients are being fed lies. I ask you to please keep speaking out because we can’t.

‘I haven’t spoken to Clive for a while now, and no longer participate in his mothers’ [Facebook] group so I’m unsure if they know the magnitude of what this really means for our children (unless of course they hold the same views) but I feel so ashamed, like I didn’t do enough research.

‘Thank you for doing what you are doing, I would never have known otherwise. Please take it as far as you have to, to protect these women.’

The Facebook group she refers to was set up by one of his recipients. Fathering too many children in one area raises the risk of unwitting incestuous relationships between them and, as one woman explained, ‘the idea is we keep in touch to stop this happening’.

Having been full of praise for the man who gave her ‘a life that I will always cherish’, Ms Burke meanwhile now feels ‘completely shocked’.

She explained that her son’s parentage is something she ‘will need to share with Marley when he is old enough to understand’, adding: ‘I would never lie to my children and I would explain that it makes no difference. I was thinking that maybe in the future I would like Marley to have a brother or sister and Clive would have been my first choice, but I don’t think that would be the case now.

‘I would have expected him to tell women like me about something so upsetting, especially as he’s been happy enough to talk online about being in this group. It upsets me to even think about why someone would want to be part of an official racist group.’

Ms Burke concedes she was always ‘at a loss’ to understand why anyone would donate free sperm to a stranger but says her desire to be a mother was all she had cared about at the time.

‘It’s only now that I’m wondering if one of his motives is about growing the white population, even with mixed-race women.’

Ms Burke was in a relationship with an ex-girlfriend when ‘we started looking online for sperm donors’, she says.

British women have long relied on sperm imports from America (where donors can be paid) and Denmark, where there is no stigma to donating sperm.

The two countries boast large, well-respected clinics which –unlike some British operators – offer a wide choice of potential fathers. The UK imports at least 7,000 sperm samples a year, with a single vial, or ‘straw’, costing an average of £800.

To guard against failure, since not every attempt succeeds, it is advised to import two vials, which come in nitrogen-cooled containers. With additional costs including transportation, a single transaction can be £1,500 to £2,000, while a round of IVF at a regulated clinic can cost a further £3,000.

That is why many hundreds of women like Ms Burke, perhaps thousands, are exploring the unregulated alternatives, whether that involves a good friend or pot luck on the internet. ‘We couldn’t afford to go to a fertility clinic and when we started looking, it was surprising to find a few men who were offering free sperm,’ she says.

‘My ex-girlfriend had sperm donations from two other men but didn’t get pregnant after eight months of trying so we thought we would ask Clive. Over text we asked questions about his age, health and why he was doing this. We wanted to know about his back story and he was very honest right from the start. He sounded nice, and when I met him when he brought his sample to our house he was kind of jokey and laid-back.’

This time Ms Burke, not her girlfriend, decided to try to conceive and found she was pregnant after receiving just one sperm sample from Jones. The couple split soon after Marley was born.

‘Nothing could change the way I feel about Marley because I love him so much and without Clive, he wouldn’t be here,’ says Ms Burke.

However, there is growing alarm among experts at the dangers of self-insemination using the internet. Sperm is a carrier of all sorts of infections readily transmitted to women. And the donor may unknowingly be a carrier of a genetic disorder.

Inviting The Mail on Sunday into his home last week, Jones said: ‘I’m a proud fascist and a proud nationalist, although some people would probably interpret that in the wrong way.

‘I’m not interested in white supremacy or racism. I believe in democracy, I’m anti-capitalist and I’m happy to say that I do worry about the English race being overtaken.’

Jones’s wife of 34 years, Di, disapproves of his donating. Although they live apart, they remain best friends. He lives in a labyrinthine detached bungalow which he has converted into five self-contained rooms with a communal kitchen to rent out to locals, mostly men.

‘I’d actually sooner live with Di because she really looks after me and we get on great. But I like to keep an eye on the place and make sure there’s no trouble,’ he said.

He says he has given sperm to five black women which resulted in two successful pregnancies.

‘I would say that 89 per cent of the couples I help are lesbian,’ he said. ‘One of the black women did ask me if I would be happy to give it to her as a white man and, of course, I said I was more than delighted.

‘Members of the NBU group know what I do and one actually asked me whether I was doing it to do my bit for the white English population. That has never entered my head.

‘I went out this week to Northamptonshire because a lady called me to say she was fertile, and then after giving her half my sample, I drove to Sheffield and dropped off the other half of the sample to another couple.’

Do they know they might be carrying the child of a dyed- in-the-wool fascist?

It is a question which says everything about the wild west world of home inseminations, where desperate women know barely a thing about the men they are creating human life with.
